We took a drive to Estes Park on Saturday to check out the fall colors. It was a beautiful drive! We went with some friends that have a 6month old, so as you can imagine it turned into a long drive and day. We enjoyed lunch and some amazing chocolate bars from Laura's famous treats (amazing stuff). I guess it wasn't impressive enough for Chloe because she slept the entire time, even though her feeding times.

a night out

Last night Grammy Dickinson babysat for us so we could go out to dinner for Jeremy's birthday. Chloe did great and it was very nice for Jeremy and I to go out to dinner and then we took a walk around a park.

Uncle time

Well we have had some sickness going around our house this week. Jeremy got the cold first and the worst. Unfrotunly for him he had a busy week of work. I thank God that I did not get it too bad since it was mostly just Chloe and I this week. Chloe isn't showing any sysmptoms yet but we are still praying.
Both of my brothers came to see us this past weekend. I think they were a bit surprised to find out that all a newborn really does is sleep and eat. It was cute to see them fight over who got to push her stroller and who was her favortie uncle.

the bad and the good

Another week has passed and it was a busy one. I will try to back track to fill you on some of the main happenings.

Jeremy left on Wednesday for his only trip of the week. Chloe slept 6 hours (!!!!) the night Jeremy was gone, so I am already thinking how awesome the day is going to be. Well on our daily walk with Bailey (our dog) we came across a raccoon sitting in the middle of the path. It just sat there and starred us down. I don't know anything about raccoons but it made me feel uneasy that it wasn't moving even when Bailey was barking at it. So I turn around to take another path. They had the sprinklers on which happen to water the path more then the grass. I couldn't go around with the stroller so we turn back hoping the crazy raccoon is gone. He is, so we happily go along are walk. All of a sudden about 5 ft in front of us is the raccoon. Again he doesn't move he just stares at us. I'm thinking better to turn around then share our story of the attack of the crazy raccoon on the news. Sprinklers still on. So much for the morning walk. Not too bad of a start just kinda weird. (Jeremy took bailey for a walk the next morning and saw the raccoon falling over, so we think he was dying.) So we go back home and I am putting the stroller in the garage when the fire alarm in our house goes off. It is an incredibly loud piercing noise. I call ADT to find out why our fire alarm is going off when there is no fire. The ADT lady is trying to explain to me how to unplug the main box to our alarm, which is so conveniently placed in a closet right under the siren that is going off. She is not the friendliest lady as she explains the outlet I am supposed to be looking for may or may not have a grey, white, or red cord that starts at the main box in the closet. That does not exactly help me so much, so finally I disconnect the battery and flip our circuit breakers one by one to find the outlet. After all that is said and done she has no idea what is wrong and needs to send a tech out. Which will cost me $110 for the first half hour and $60 after that. Are you kidding me!? I am not sure how they get away with that. Thankfully we have a neighbor friend that installs ADT so he stopped by and took a look at it. The whole system was just freaking out. So he just replaced the main part (I don't know technical language) for free. So I guess it could have been worse. The alarm noise, the dumb lady on the phone, and Chloe screaming in the background of it all was a bit much for me. I probably shouldn't ask but what else can go wrong on the days Jeremy is flying. I guess I am 1 (good day) for 2 (bad). This week Jeremy has 3 trips and I am praying I end the week 4 for 2. That is it for the bad stuff.

Now the good stuff. My mom couldn't keep away from Chloe so she flew out on Saturday and spent the weekend with us. We did a lot of shopping for Chloe. She did some baby sitting for us while Jeremy and I went out alone on Saturday and took Bailey swimming at a city pool that they open up for dogs at the end of the season and then when we went to our small group on Sunday night. It was weird to not have her with me but nice for Jeremy and I. That is all. It sure felt crazier then it sounds. And thanks mom for all your help!

1 month

I am 1 month old now! There is so much I can do already. I am getting better at holding my own head up, I love to open my eyes more so I can check out what room I am in and see who is holding me, I am getting better at sleeping during the night (we get a 5 hour stretch now!!), I smile when mommy or daddy smiles and talks baby talk at me, I giggled once (she was sleeping when she did it, but it was the cutest sound I have ever heard), I have a healthy appetite and am filling out (she now weighs a little more then 10pounds). - Chloe

I survived!

Chloe and I made it through 2 nights and 4 days (well not full days) without Jeremy. Everything went well the first day until Chloe decided she wanted to eat every 2 hours during the night. Not too bad though, just made for a tired mommy the next day, but I still managed to get a bit of house work done. Jeremy was home late that evening to give us a little break. The next morning I dropped Jeremy off at the airport. I arrived home only to find that Bailey had eaten about 2 pounds of grapes that I had just washed and left sitting in the sink to drain. I called the vet and they said to get bailey there asap so they could induce vomiting. So I load Chloe and Bailey into the car and speed off to the vet. Figuring out how to keep bailey under control while carrying Chloe into the vet was interesting, but we made it. They wanted to keep bailey there for a few hours to control the mess and keep an eye on her. Since our vet is about 35 minutes away from our house I decided it wouldn't be worth it to drive back home, so Chloe and I decided to do a bit of shopping to waste time while Bailey was at the vet. All said and done, Bailey is going to be fine. She got all the grapes out of her system in time. Chloe did great out and about and I survived all my firsts involved with running around alone with a new born. Unfortunately that night Chloe decided she didn't want to sleep. After 2 1/2 hours of fussiness she fell asleep around 12:30am. She made up for it with a 5 hour stretch of sleep. That was our crazy day while Jeremy was at work. oh and to make it even better , during all of this Jeremy was sleeping for 10hours in his hotel.
